I started wearing glasses in 2nd grade, went through numerous pairs of glasses playing volleyball, lost countless contact lenses playing basketball, and couldn't wait for the day that I got rid of glasses and contacts forever.
Real-Life LASIK Tour - Independence Day Screening
When I went to the Wright Eye Center I was nervous. For years I had been told I was not a candidate for corrective eye procedures because of my extreme degree of nearsightedness and astigmatism. That day, I was told I was a great candidate! I left the Wright Eye Center happy as a clam, with instructions to not wear my contact lenses until my complete eye examination. I didn't even mind wearing my "pop bottle" glasses, because I knew it would be the last time I would have to! Real-Life LASIK Tour - Friendly Examination
The friendly staff and knowledgeable doctors answered every question. They realized I was a tad nervous, and were very reassuring. They made me aware of any potential risks, minimal but present, and were careful that I understood what was happening to me. Real-Life LASIK Tour - The Big Day Arrives Day of Surgery!
I walked into the procedure room and was greeted with a smile from Dr. Wright. I reclined on the procedure chair and the doctor gently talked me through each and every step of the procedure. I
was never scared. Believe it or not, it was a truly pleasurable experience.
I didn't experience any pain at all and the procedure was done before
I knew it! I expected it to take much longer than 10 minutes... Completely giddy, I was driven home by my friend with a patch over my eye to protect it. As I fell asleep that evening, I thought "I can't wait to open my eye in the morning!" Real-Life LASIK Tour - The Big Day - Independence Day Arrives
At my 1 day post-op visit, the atmosphere was electric in the waiting room as the other "one day-ers" shared amazingly similar stories. I was 20/30 less than 24 hours after the procedure was performed. Even the doctor commented on how well my eye took the treatment. Still grinning from ear to ear, I went off to a remote and amazed all my coworkers with my excellent new vision!
My left eye was done May 9 and I chose to be corrected for monovision. Today I can see 20/20 for distance, and my reading vision is great! I took my children to the swimming pool this summer. I didn't have to wear those dorky goggles to keep my contacts from floating out of my eyes... and I was absolutely delighted to see the full length of the pool while swimming under water. Now is that cool*, or what! |
