WAVEFRONT

The Wright Eye Center is among the first refractive surgery center(s) to make the LADAR4000™ Excimer Laser available in Colorado Springs for vision correction procedures. The LADAR4000™ laser was approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for LASIK and PRK refractive surgery, and for the wavefront-guided treatment of farsightedness with or without astigmatism.
With the new LADAR4000™ laser now installed, The Wright Eye Center will be the first to offer laser vision correction to people who are farsighted, or who have difficulty seeing objects close up, with the wavefront-guided CustomCornea® procedure. Previously, only people affected by nearsightedness, or people who had difficulty seeing objects at a distance, could be treated with the CustomCornea® procedure.
“The addition of the new LADAR4000™ laser to our practice provides us with a unique opportunity to meet a broad spectrum of our patient’s vision correction needs,” says Dr. John R. Wright . “Roughly one-fourth of the population is affected by farsightedness, and with the use of the CustomCornea® procedure in the treatment of farsighted patients we can ensure that they enjoy the same successes that our nearsighted patients have realized with the CustomCornea® procedure.”
According to Dr. Wright, the LADAR4000™ excimer laser reduces the amount of time required to perform the procedure, a clear benefit that most patients will likely welcome.

The
LADARVision Difference
Advantages
of LADARVision:
1.
Variable treatment zones
a. The
LADARVision system allows us to utilize treatment zones of 5.5mm to
8mm in diameter, with blend zones as large as 10mm. This represents the
largest range of treatment capabilities of any Excimer laser approved
for use in the United States. This is important for a patient because
it dramatically reduces the chance of night vision problems following
LASIK with LADARVision since we have the ability to customize the treatment
zone to your pupil size.
2. LADARTracker
a. The LADARTracker accurately tracks eye movements during surgery so you do not have to worry about holding your eye still. The tracker
senses the position of your eye 4,000 times per second, guiding placement
of the laser beam with pinpoint accuracy. LADARTracker refers to laser-radar,
a tracking device originally developed by NASA.
What
is LADARVision?

3. Small spot scanning
a. The LADARVision system uses a small spot, flying laser beam that
helps to create a very smooth treatment, further enhancing a patient's
results. It also has the potential to treat complex surface patterns.
4.
Results
a. Since the introduction of LADARVision to our practice in November
of 2001, we have noticed an increase in our overall results. Currently,
we are achieving the highest percentage of 20/20 outcomes with LADAR
than our other laser technologies.
